The Decay and Rebuilding Website

I’ve been thinking we should do some website rejuvenation and renewal in preparation for our upcoming events.

I made a few edits to the most recent blog posts, just fixing some of the formatting and adding footnotes (with tooltips - see the footnotes in the table here). But while I was at it I realised we can add a commenting function to our blog posts powered by this discourse forum. This would be a relatively simple thing to add (the technical how to is here). This could then be used to invite people to discuss the upcoming events, and also to discuss the content of the events once it’s over.

In addition to this, I was thinking maybe we should try to relaunch the blog by writing up some posts rehashing the things we have covered in the summer school - but with an approach of a number of smaller, more approachable posts compared to the long, difficult to write and long to read posts that we’ve put up from the summer school.

I’ve enabled the About page and added it to the website sidebar.

For now the About page is just a copy of the “Statement of Purpose” blog post. But I think we can pare it down to a shorter version and add some stuff about the events we have run in the past.

The website now has a working link to the Discourse in the sidebar.

The Discourse domain has been moved to https://forum.decay-and-rebuilding.org.

The old domain might still work but there might be bugs using the old domain, so please update your bookmarks.
